Take a moment and think back on an experience in your life that brought you great happiness. It can be anything. Savor the memory with all your senses. Close your eyes and imagine the scene unfolding. Feel the joy, happiness, and contentment you felt during that experience. Recall the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and contacts. While you are immersing yourself in these remembered sensations take five, slow, deep breaths. (Actually, do this before you read further, it only takes about a minute).

If you were able to hold that memory with its feelings that entire time, then you are definitely able to create ANYTHING in your life that you have the ability to imagine, in exactly the same way. Let me explain.

Our brains cannot distinguish between what’s real and what’s imagined. Whether a person performs an action or just visualizes that action, we now know that identical areas of the brain light up on scans. Many top performers, athletes, and highly successful people use visualization to build their mental muscles. Although this is pretty cool, when you combine feeling with visualization, you give it even more power.

Feelings are our interpretations of emotions. They are generated from your perceptions of an experience. Emotions are more primal than feelings. Think of emotions as energy in motion. They arise from outside stimuli and cause chemical reactions in your body. If something frightens you, real or imagined, you experience the emotion of fear which releases the chemistry of stress, the fight or flight response, into the body. If something pleases you, a love-based, chemical cocktail of growth is released into your body. When you pay attention to your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, you realize that your interior, subjective environment directly affects your exterior, objective reality. You’re the one in charge!

Lastly, you must have imagination. In order to create something, you must be able to hold a vision of it. This is mind driven. Your desire for this creation is heart driven. When you connect your mind with your heart, as if it is already manifest, you have the equation for experiencing exactly what you want.

Whether you realize it or not, this is how you have manifested everything in your life. And it works in reverse too. If you dwell on possible scenarios, infused with fear, you will see more of that in your reality.

So try this: Imagine one thing you would like to manifest in your life; something that would bring you great joy. You must believe it is possible. Just like I asked you to do at the beginning of this post, visualize this wonderful experience and feel the feelings you would have as if it were happening right now. Savor all the sensations and feel all the feelings, then let it go! Do not worry about how it will manifest. Trust the universe to give you exactly what you want in the best way possible. You will be surprised by the results!
